Winner of the Toronto International Film Festival's Grolsch Film Works Discovery Award, DETROIT UNLEADED is a modern take on Romeo and Juliet that tells the story of Sami, a Lebanese-American who reluctantly takes over his family's gas station business after his father is murdered in an armed robbery. It's not a life that Sami (EJ Assi) ever wanted, nor did his late father who always encouraged his son to go to college.
The gas station that Sami manages with his cousin Mike (Breaking Bad's Mike Batayeh) is more than just a pit stop for rolling papers and fake perfume, but a place where an infinite stream of spirited and often hilarious people flow through.
When a gorgeous "up-do girl" named Najlah (Nada Shouhayib) comes to deliver cheap long-distance phone cards, Sami quickly falls for her. Afraid her overprotective brother will disapprove, Najlah begins a romance with Sami under the promise of secrecy.

I am a 15 year old kid that really enjoy this movie I hope everyone get the chance to see this film. I think Ms. Rola Nashef is a wonderful person as well beautiful . This film show how two ppl who like each other but it's not easy to be together, as well an a lebanese -American father who own a gas station ,and get kill and leave it to his son whom don't want the life of owning a gas station , he wants a diffrent life. This film is base on Lebanese -American life of Lebanese -American , but I think everyone can relate to this story and everyone should see this film . I hope that all my friends and family see this film. It a great film.
I had the opportunity to see this film in Detroit and it was very entertaining. I laughed, I cried, I had a good time. Great views of the city, great comedic sequences with the customers coming in and out. Love the actors who have such a natural way with each other, at times it is easy to forget that they are actors. There is so much I can say about the movie but I don't want to spoil it for anyone. Check it out!
